On 12 October around 30 members of FEW met for drinks followed by a screening of the revenge thriller Dead Man's Shoes directed by Shane Meadows at the Arenberg Cinema. This was a very clever and thought-provoking film, which recently won the top prize at the British Film Festival in Dinard, France.

The film was shown as part of "Image A Nation 2004" - a festival of new British films organised by the British Council in Brussels. The festival, now in its second year, screened over 30 independent feature films and documentaries. Many of the screenings were introduced by the directors or actors featuring in the films.
